Indus International, Inc., is proud to announce that the State Library of South Dakota has acquired the semi-robotic, high resolution, scanVpage jumbo book scanner. Bound books as large as 25.2 inches wide from the edge of the left page to the edge of the right page and 17.3 inches tall when open can be scanned in this scanner. Scans are delivered at 600 DPI true optical resolution and within seconds.
The scanner holds the books in a V-shape cradle and a matching V-shape cover glass system keeps the book being scanned at the perfect distance away from the capture system to deliver a sharp perfectly focused image of the two sides of the book. This scanner meets FADGI 3 Star standard when images are scanned at 300 DPI and with the cover glass.
Indus installed the scanVpage at the State Library in Pierre, South Dakota in late summer 2021. The State Library already had the Indus Book Scanner 9000 that they had purchased and have been using since 2012. After the installation of the scanVpage the Book Scanner 9000 was moved to another digitization area within the library system.
The scanVpage is supplied as a turnkey system that includes all necessary hardware, software and on-site support that protects the customer’s investment and minimizes downtime, if any. The scanVpage incorporates great features. The V-shape cover glass moves automatically to allow the turning of the pages of the book. Scan is triggered automatically when the cover glass settles gently on the book.
